Join us for SHATTERED: An Ash Wednesday Drive-Through Experience.
*We are sorry to announce that, due to a combination of developments, the Ash Wednesday drive-through event planned for tomorrow is cancelled. Road conditions and temperatures for volunteers are factors, and our pastors cannot return from Georgia as planned, due to winter-storm travel conditions. The event is rescheduled for this Sunday, February 21, from 12:00 until 1:00. Second-Hour classes are cancelled. If you already have a reserved time for the Wednesday service, you may keep that time for Sunday’s event, if you would like. If you did not reserve a time for Wednesday but would like to attend on Sunday, you may make a reservation here.
Ash Wednesday is a time for naming our brokenness. We’ve been through a harrowing time since last Lent – a time that has shattered our sense of wholeness, like a glass vessel fractured into pieces. This year, we will be exploring Lent as a season of recovery, as we consider the healing narratives of Jesus, which tell of divine solidarity with human suffering. These stories remind us that God can make something beautiful from that which is broken. Claiming these promises starts with naming what has been shattered.
Join us for our special drive-through Ash Wednesday event, an opportunity to name our brokenness, receive God’s promises, and claim the blessing that equips us to move forward towards healing. This simple worship event which will include a service of ashes; in accordance with best practices during the pandemic, we will not be physically imposing the ashes on participants. As part of the event, participants will also receive Lenten Kits with items to support worship and spiritual practices throughout the season.
For those who cannot attend our Ash Wednesday drive-through, we will make arrangements to get Lenten Kits delivered in some other way. In order to help with our planning as well as with ensuring smooth traffic flow, we ask you to make your reservation here.
We also invite you to join us virtually in a brief Ash Wednesday service online.
