SUMMARY:Thrummed Mitten Class
DESCRIPTION:Last February\, one of our dear pastors\, Stacey Simpson Duke\, passed away. She was a marvelous knitter and often spun roving into yarn before sitting with a project. A cozy knitted mitten pattern has been found in which one can incorporate pieces of Stacey’s roving. We have wool roving of Stacey’s that is ready to be made into something beautiful.  \nAll knitters are welcome to join us to make thrums from roving and weave them into mittens. The class will be held at Spun on two consecutive Thursdays\, March 7 and 14 from 3:30-5:30. We are honored to have Carol Ullmann\, creator of the Thrummed Mittens pattern\, as our instructor. On February 22\, there will be an initial gathering of participants at FBC in the Memorial lounge from 3:30 till 5:30. We will review the pattern and start the homework. Stacey’s roving will be available for purchase; the cost of the class at Spun is $85. We do not want the cost of this class to be a barrier for anyone; please connect with Xan as needed.  \nTo sign up for the class\, please click the purple “Sign Up” button. This class is appropriate for all skill levels\, whether you are knitting your first mitten or your fiftieth. \nPrerequisites: Participants should be familiar with the long-tail cast-on\, knitting\, purling\, and knitting in the round. \nHomework: Cast on 36 stitches with size US6 double-pointed needles\, using the long-tail cast-on\, join to knit in the round\, and knit in 2×2 ribbing (knit 2\, purl 2) for three inches. \nMaterials to bring along: \n\nOne skein of Berroco Lanas\, purchased from Spun\nRoving from Stacey’s stash (See Xan) OR purchased from Spun\nUS 6 double-pointed needles\nUS 8 double-pointed needles\nDarning or tapestry needle\nStitch markers\nMeasuring tape\nScissors\nA copy (printed or digital) of the Warm Paws pattern\, which you can purchase here
