SUMMARY:Book Group Discussion of Come As You Are by Emily Nagoski
DESCRIPTION:Created in God’s own image\, human beings are physical and relational beings – which means we are also sexual beings. Our sexuality is an essential part of who we were created to be\, yet too often\, we treat this part of our human experience as something separate from our faith – and certainly not something to be discussed at church. Sex is a part of life that deserves real conversation\, especially with people we can trust. So\, let’s have a conversation! \nEmily Nagoski\, a sex educator\, has been asked questions like:  \n\nOnce my partner initiates\, I’m into it\, but it seems like it never even occurs to me to be the one to start things. Why is that?\nI saw this things about women who can’t enjoy sex because they worry about their bodies the whole time. That’s me. How do I stop doing that?\nI read something about women who stop wanting sex after a while in a relationship\, even if they still love their partner. That’s me. How do I start wanting sex with my partner again?\n\nNagoski’s shares in her book\, Come As You Are that under all these questions\, there’s really just one question:  \nAm I normal? (The answer is nearly always: Yes.)  \nCome As You Are is a collection of answers. As Nagoski says\, “They’re answers that I’ve seen change women’s lives\, answers informed by the most relevant science and by the personal stories of women whose growing understanding of sex has transformed their relationships with their own bodies.”  \nYou are warmly invited to participate in a Zoom book group that will discuss Come As You Are over 5 meetings\, March 6\, 13\, 20 and April 3 and 10 from 6:30-8:00p\,  facilitated by Robbie Stapleton and Xan Morgan.  You are welcome to invite friends to join as well.
