Our Worship Service
Our worship service is at the heart of our church’s ministry. This is the time we have set aside to worship and glorify God as a community. Our Sunday morning worship tends to be traditional and formal, and generally follows the Common Lectionary. The sermons are biblically based, provocative, and relevant to the practice of our Christian faith in our daily lives. Our worship includes elements that are both corporate and intimate, and meet the spiritual as well as the practical needs of worshippers.
Another element of our service is Time as Children, during which the children of our congregation gather with the Director of Christian Education for a brief conversation. We are often treated to the astonishing insights of which only children are capable. On a recent Sunday morning, one of the children offered a prayer closing with an innocent and delightful “keep in touch.”
Our youth are also involved in worship, not only in choir, but also as acolytes and lay readers.
We observe the ritual of Communion on the first Sunday of each month. This is open to all people, members and non-members, of all denominations, who have professed their faith in Jesus Christ.
