Due to extreme cold winter weather, there has been a much greater demand for shelter services. Even with the new day shelter in operation, there are now fewer total beds available, creating an even bigger overflow. Sometimes homeless men are left in the cold. In 1987 the Rotating Shelter was developed to supplement shelter space during the coldest time of year. First Baptist church joined other churches to provide a safe, warm place for up to 20 men to spend the night. At least two volunteers spend the night to be host. Some of our members have been participating in the program since its inception. First Baptist Church considers the Rotating Shelter an important mission of our church.
