Sue Ellen Glover
Director of Christian Education
Sue Ellen Glover has been our Director of Christian Education since 1992, coordinating the educational ministry for all ages at First Baptist Church.
Sue Ellen grew up on a farm in southwest Michigan, within a family committed to the small American Baptist congregation to which they belonged for three generations. She followed her grandmother, mother and brother into the education profession, graduating from Michigan State University with a BA and MA in Special Education. Sue Ellen taught emotionally impaired and autistic children in Michigan and Hawaii, before taking time off to stay at home with children Alan, born in 1982, and Jillian, born in 1985. Her husband Tom is a research scientist in the field of Human Genetics at the University of Michigan.
Sue Ellen also serves on the Commission on Christian Education, the Local Church Ministry Team, the Region Board, and on the ACTS Committee for the American Baptist Churches of Michigan. She is a member of the Discipleship Partners, a team of Christian educator consultants sponsored by the American Baptist Churches USA and the ABC of Michigan.
At FBC, Sue Ellen is committed to the concept that Christian education is part of all areas of congregational life and that all members of our church family are teachers as well as learners in a never-ending faith journey.
She is currently leading a class on Prayer on Sundays during the second hour.
