Co-op School

In Fall 2007, First Baptist welcomed the Ann Arbor Cooperative Nursery School (AACN) into its space. AACN, founded in 1937, is Michigan’s oldest cooperative preschool. The preschool was previously housed at First Baptist Church from fall 1961 through spring 1968; it later occupied space at Bethlehem United Church of Christ for nearly 36 years.

AACN is a high-quality, low-cost, play-based preschool for children ages 2 1/2-5. As a cooperative, the school is operated by parents and staffed by Lynn Archer, the school’s award-winning teacher since 1995. The school meets three days a week in the educational wing of First Baptist Church. The Ann Arbor Co-op Nursery recognizes and welcomes families of all configurations and does not discriminate based on race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, sex, or sexual orientation. The school has no religious affiliation or any formal ties to First Baptist Church; however, the church and the school maintain an excellent relationship. First Baptist is delighted to welcome children in to its space for their earliest educational experiences.
