“Not Here”

We gather this morning to celebrate this central proclamation of our faith – Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! And yet isn’t it odd that not one of us knows what actually happened that resurrection morning? This is the defining story. Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised. The Gospels tell us all about his crucifixion. They show us his burial. But his resurrection? Nothing. God only knows what happened in the tomb. The Gospels have no words for it. From Friday afternoon until Sunday morning, what we get is one long silence. Hope has been silenced. Jesus has been silenced. God has gone silent. (more…)
